Why choose Cirro Energy

Cirro Energy is known across Texas for its variety of energy plans and reliable service. This provider offers a wide range of contract lengths, from 12 months to 24 months.

Cirro Energy offerings include:

  • Fixed-rate energy plans
  • Plan options powered by green energy
  • Short-term and long-term business energy contracts

Everything you need to know about Cirro Energy

Cirro Energy is a leading energy provider in Texas’s deregulated market. It offers various plans to fit different household needs. Choose Energy connects customers with the most trusted energy providers. When deciding which providers to work with, we consider criteria such as reliability, variety of plans, affordability, and customer service.

Types of rates offered by Cirro Energy

Cirro Energy offers several fixed-rate energy plans and one variable-rate plan.

Fixed-rate plans. Under a fixed-rate plan, you will pay a single rate per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for the electricity you use. Fixed-rate plans require you to sign a contract, and you may incur an early termination fee if you cancel before your contract expires. These plans are best for stability and protection against changes in the energy market.

Variable-rate plans. A variable-rate plan works well for consumers who don’t want a locked-in contract at a fixed rate. Based on the wholesale energy cost, the rate consumers pay on a variable plan changes monthly. These plans involve some risk during high-demand seasons as they depend on the shifting energy market.

For information about electricity plans in your area, enter your ZIP code and use the filter feature to narrow your results.

No deposit options from Cirro Energy

Many electricity companies require a deposit to begin electric service, including Cirro Energy. You may be exempt from paying a deposit if you have a high credit score. No-deposit energy plans may be available for consumers who want to bypass paying a deposit. Enter your ZIP code to explore no-deposit and prepaid electricity plans in your area.

Green energy with Cirro Energy

Texas is a leading producer of wind and solar energy. Depending on your location, you may have access to 100% green energy plans, including options from Cirro Energy. Every Texas energy plan will contain some renewable or green energy. Use the Choose Energy marketplace to check your green energy options. You can find the exact amount of green energy sourced in a particular plan by checking that plan’s Electricity Facts Label (EFL).

Moving or transferring service with Cirro Energy

If you are moving and want to transfer your service to your new home, call Cirro Energy, and they will make that transfer for you as long as they offer service in that area. Alternatively, if you decide to switch to a new provider during your move, you can use the Choose Energy marketplace to find a provider in your new neighborhood. Cirro Energy will not charge you an early termination fee (ETF) if you move out of a service area and provide proof of your new address.

Renting with Cirro Energy

If you rent a house or apartment, you can find a Cirro Energy plan that fits your needs. Cirro Energy does not offer a plan specifically for rentals or apartments. However, the provider does offer a range of contract lengths, so you can choose a plan that aligns with your rental lease. The month-to-month variable-rate plan may be a good option for renters, depending on their rental agreement and how transient they are.

Cancellation fees

Most providers charge an early termination fee on their fixed-rate energy plans, including Cirro Energy. You’ll incur this fee if you cancel your service before your contract ends. Fees vary based on the provider and the plan. Cirro Energy charges fees between $150 and $200, depending on the length of your plan. The company does not charge a cancellation fee for its month-to-month variable plan.

Satisfaction guarantee

Many energy providers offer a satisfaction guarantee that allows you to switch out of your plan within a certain number of days if you’re unhappy with your service. Unfortunately, Cirro Energy doesn’t currently offer a satisfaction guarantee on its energy plans.

Cirro Energy plans

Cirro Energy offers various energy plans to both residential and business customers. The company has fixed-rate plans with terms starting at just 12 months and lasting as long as 24 months. They also offer a month-to-month variable-rate plan. Below are some of the available Cirro Energy plans:

  • Smart Lock Saver 24 Online: With a 24-month term, this fixed-rate plan gives you price security for a full two years. There is no base charge if you use at least 2,000 kWh a month, so we recommend this plan if you consistently meet that usage level. If your typical monthly usage is less than 2,000 kWh, you will need to pay a $9.95 base charge. This plan charges a $295 early cancellation fee and is sourced by 21% renewable energy sources.
  • Smart Lock Select 12: This 12-month, fixed-rate plan lets you lock in your rate for the entirety of your contract. This plan could be a good option for renters because it lasts one year, and the rate you pay is the same regardless of your usage tier. The Smart Lock Select 12 plan charges a $150 early termination fee, and 21% of the plan comes from renewable energy.
  • Smart Flex Monthly: This is a month-to-month variable rate plan. It’s a good option for customers who prefer no contracts or cancellation fees.

Tips for best electricity plans

It’s easy to start or switch to a new electricity plan with Choose Energy’s help. We can help you explore options to find the right fit for your household or business. Then you can let the provider handle the rest of the process while you enjoy your new rate.

Choose Energy's tips for electricity service set-up

Start by reviewing your Cirro Energy plan’s Electricity Facts Label (EFL), where you’ll find information such as:

  • Rate per kWh based on your energy usage
  • The percentage of your energy sourced by renewable sources
  • Your plan’s early termination fee

Simple setup. Once you sign up for your plan, your new provider will contact your transmission and distribution service provider or TDSP. Your provider transition shouldn’t disrupt the power — the utility company will handle the switch and keep the process hassle-free.

Understanding your electricity bill is key to avoiding surprises regarding your energy plan. As you’ll remember, your utility remains the same even if you switch to Cirro Energy as a provider. The utility fees will be on your electricity bill, separate from what you’ve agreed to pay to your provider.

How shopping for electricity works

Thanks to Texas’s deregulated energy market, homeowners and business owners can choose their energy provider. With so many providers to choose from, the process can feel overwhelming.
