  • Fixed-rate and variable-rate plans
  • Plan options powered by renewable energy

Everything you need to know about Express Energy

Express Energy is one of the top energy providers to choose from in Texas’s deregulated market. Choose Energy only partners with the most trusted energy providers, so you can rest assured the plans you find have been vetted. The criteria we use when selecting providers include reliability, variety of plans, affordability, and customer service. Express Energy meets all of these criteria, which is why we’re happy to include them in the Choose Energy marketplace.

Types of rates offered by Express Energy

Express Energy offers a variety of plans, including fixed-rate and variable-rate plans.

  • Fixed-rate plan: A fixed-rate plan is ideal for customers who value security and protection from rate spikes in the energy market. You’re locked into a contract, meaning your rate won’t change.
  • Variable-rate plan: A variable-rate plan can be better for those who want more flexibility. You aren’t locked into a contract, but your rate can fluctuate regularly.

Enter your ZIP code above to discover the types of energy plans currently available near you, both from Express Energy and from other providers.

No deposit options from Express Energy

Express Energy, much like other electricity companies, usually requires a deposit before service begins. Customers with certain credit scores may be exempt from paying a deposit. While Express Energy does not offer a specific no-deposit plan, there are several available on the Choose Energy marketplace. Enter your ZIP code above to explore no-deposit and prepaid options in your area.

Green energy with Express Energy

Each Texas energy plan is powered by a percentage of green energy, including solar energy sources. You can find out exactly how much in each plan’s Electricity Facts Label (EFL). The Flash Bundled 12 plan from Express Energy uses 6% renewable energy. Additionally, Express Energy offers 100 percent renewable energy options upon enrollment.

Moving or transferring service with Express Energy

Moving to a new address? You can transfer your Express Energy plan by contacting the provider using one of the methods listed below. If Express Energy does not offer service in your new area and you need to switch to a different provider, you can do so without paying an early termination fee. Additionally, if you’re moving into Express Energy’s service area and want to sign up, you can enter your new ZIP code above and see the Express Energy rates and plans available for your new home.

Renting with Express Energy

Even renters can take advantage of Express Energy’s affordable electricity plans. While some Express Energy plans require you to enter into a longer-term contract, there are also short-term and month-to-month plans for those unsure how long they’ll be in their current home.

Cancellation fees

Most providers that offer fixed-rate energy plans also require early termination fees if you cancel your service before your contract ends. The fee depends on the provider and the type of plan you have. Longer energy plans tend to have higher fees. Express Energy’s cancellation fee is based on how far into your contract you are. You’ll pay $20 per month remaining on your plan.

Satisfaction guarantee

Express Energy offers a 30-day money-back guarantee for its energy plans. If you’re unhappy with your plan, you can cancel within 30 days of activation to avoid paying an early termination fee.

Express Energy plans

Express Energy offers several different energy plans so that each customer can find the one to  best fit their needs. Below are a few of the popular plans offered by Express Energy:

Flash 12 with Auto Pay

With Express Energy’s Flash 12 with Auto Pay plan, you’ll get a fixed rate and the benefit of a $100 bill credit each month you use 1000 kWh or more. As the name says, you’ll need to set up auto pay to receive this benefit. Because the bill credit only applies if you use at least 1,000 kWh, we do not recommend this plan if you regularly use less than 1,000 kWh. Without the bill credit, the effective price per kWh in the 500 to 999 kWh range could leave you with an expensive bill.

Freeway 12

With Freeway 12, you will get free energy after you pass 1000 kWh a month until you reach 2000 kWh (1001 -2000 kWh a month). If you use 2000 kWh or more, you’ll save a little with a $35 bill credit. We recommend this plan for customers falling within the 1,001 to 2,000 kWh range. Customers who use 1,000 kWh or less (0-1000) or more than 2,000 kWh (2,001 or more) will pay an energy charge for each kWh hour used. This energy charge could result in a pricey monthly bill for low- and high-usage customers.

Flash Bundled 12

With Flash Bundled 12, you will get a fixed rate and benefit from a $100 bill credit each month you use 1000 kWh or more. Because the bill credit only applies if you use at least 1,000 kWh, we do not recommend this plan if you regularly use less than 1,000 kWh. Without the bill credit, the effective price per kWh in the 500 to 999 range could leave you with a costly bill.
