Types of rates offered by Gexa Energy
Gexa Energy currently offers both fixed-rate and variable-rate energy plans. Here’s a bit more information about the different plans so you can choose the best option for you:
- Fixed-rate plans: With a fixed-rate energy plan, customers can lock in their monthly rate with a contract, often for a term of one to two years. A fixed-rate plan means your rate won’t fluctuate with the energy market.
- Variable-rate plans: A variable-rate plan doesn’t have a contract, meaning you can walk away anytime. Your rate may change each month with the energy market.

No deposit options from Gexa Energy
Depending on your credit score, you may be required to pay a deposit when you sign up for your energy plan. No-deposit plans allow you to skip the deposit and the credit check. Gexa Energy does not offer no-deposit plans. However, if you meet certain requirements, you may be exempt from having to pay a deposit. You can waive your deposit with Gexa Energy if:
- You provide an acceptable utility credit history (credit reference) letter.
- You are 65 or older and are not currently late on payments for any electric service account.
- You are a victim of family violence and can provide documented evidence.
Green energy with Gexa Energy
Every plan offered through Gexa Energy is 100% green. The company buys renewable wind and solar credits to offset the total price of your bill, making it an ideal green energy provider for homes and businesses looking to reduce their environmental footprint.
Moving or transferring service with Gexa Energy
Existing Gexa Energy customers can transfer service to a new home through their My Gexa online account. If you move outside of the Gexa service area, call Gexa at 866-961-9399 to disconnect. Switching plans or providers is easy. Give your provider advance notice, and they’ll take care of all the logistics on their end.
Renting with Gexa Energy
If you are a renter or only plan to be with your provider for a short time, you can find a 100% green Gexa Energy plan that works for you. Variable-rate plans allow for flexibility in case you need to end your contract early and don’t want to pay a fee. You can also browse for Gexa Energy plans with a specific term length to align with your rental agreement.
Cancellation fees
Most providers that offer fixed-rate energy plans require that you pay an early termination fee (ETF) if you end your service before the end of your contract. Cancellation fees vary depending on the provider and the length of your plan, so check the Electricity Facts Label (EFL) before signing up.
Satisfaction guarantee
Gexa Energy offers a 60-day happiness guarantee. If you sign up for a Gexa plan and aren’t happy, you can cancel within 60 days of the activation date and switch to another Gexa plan without paying an early termination fee.

Gexa Energy plans
Gexa Energy offers fixed-rate and variable-rate plans, with contracts ranging from 12 to 36 months — all powered by 100% green energy. The company purchases solar and wind energy certificates to offset your electricity usage. Here are some of the Gexa Energy plans currently available in the Choose Energy marketplace:
- Gexa Saver Deluxe 12 or 24: With this fixed-rate 12- or 24-month plan, you’ll receive a $100 bill credit every month when your usage is between 1,000 and 2,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh). We do not recommend this plan if you regularly use less than 1,000 kWh because the $100 bill credit won’t apply. If you end your contract early, you’ll incur an ETF unless you’re moving.
- Gexa Saver Value 12: Bill credits for this 12-month, fixed-rate plan start at $35 a month when your usage is between 500 and 999 kWh and increase to $50 a month when you use between 1,000 and 1,500 kWh. We recommend this plan if you live in an apartment or a small house because you’ll likely qualify for a bill credit. However, if you typically use more than 1,500 kWh a month, the Gexa Saver Value 12 may not be right for you.
- Gexa Superb Saver 12 or 24: This 12- or 24-month, fixed-rate plan has a $35 base charge and bill credits available depending on usage. If you use between 1,500 and 1,999 kWh a month on the 12-month plan, you will receive a $50 usage credit. If you use between 2,000 and 2,500 kWh, you are eligible for a $100 usage credit. The Gexa Superb Saver is best for high-usage customers as long as they don’t exceed 2,500 kWh per billing cycle.

A few things to remember
Always read a plan’s Electricity Facts Label (EFL) to learn about important information, including:
- The rate per kWh based on your electricity usage
- The percentage of energy sourced by renewable sources
- Potential early termination fees
After signing up for your new electricity plan, Gexa Energy will work with your local utility company to get your service started. Your power should not be interrupted during the switch.
You can expect to see both Gexa Energy and local utility charges on your electricity bill. Your utility company depends on your location and is not affected by switching providers. The utility is also responsible for restoring power during an outage.
