YEP Energy energy plans

YEP Energy rates vary based on the plan you choose and the length of the contract that locks in your rates. Here are some plans YEP offers.

YEP Saver

This is a fixed-rate plan that requires you to set up AutoPay for your electricity bill. Rates are based on kilowatt usage, and you can choose from contract terms ranging from three months to 36 months.

Green Earth

This contract promises 100% green power through Renewable Energy Certificates. You pay a fixed rate per kilowatt-hour, based on your electricity usage. The rate per kWh is higher if you don’t sign up for AutoPay.

Support Our Troops

This is a fixed-rate plan that enables you to support the USO. For every 1,000 kWh of electricity you use, YEP contributes $3 to specified USO programs.

Your Energy Plan

This fixed-rate plan requires you to sign up for AutoPay. You can choose from a wide range of contract lengths.

No Long-Term Commitment

This is a temporary, one-month, variable-rate plan that is only available to first-time customers. After the first month, YEP will transition the policy to a standard plan.

YEP Energy reviews

Because there are so many retail energy providers in Texas, it is difficult to review all of them. YEP Energy has been Better Business Bureau accredited since 2010, meaning the company meets certain trust and transparency standards. To learn more about BBB accreditation and see recent ratings and reviews for YEP, we recommend you taking a look at the BBB’s website.

YEP Energy for residential customers

Yep Energy provides electricity at competitive rates to residential customers around Texas. The company emphasizes the quality of its customer service. For example, it has customer care representatives who are fluent in Spanish and Korean. YEP Energy also provides green energy and other environmentally friendly options, such as paperless billing.

YEP Energy for commercial customers

YEP Energy serves business customers through its commercial division, Texpo Energy. It offers different rates for small and large businesses, with a fixed-rate plan designed for companies with a peak demand of less than 50 kW.

Green energy options with YEP Energy

YEP offers green energy options for both residential and commercial customers. Residential customers can choose a Green Earth plan. With these plans, YEP purchases Renewable Energy Certificates for green power, which can include Texas natural gas and renewable energy. YEP says that with a Green Earth plan, the electricity is 100% green, compared with the statewide average of 20.7% renewable content.

The company also offers paperless billing to reduce its environmental footprint.

Community Investment

YEP Energy has partnered with the USO to support military families. It makes a donation to the USO for every 1,000 kWh used by customers who enroll in a Support our Troops plan.

Energy Plan FAQs

What should l do if the power goes out? If the electricity at your home or office is off, you should report it to the utility that delivers the electricity to your premises. Don’t call the provider, which doesn’t maintain the lines or handle the delivery.

What is a fixed-rate plan? With a fixed-rate plan, electricity supply rates for the plan stay the same for the contract’s length. Your contract will show the rate you pay per 500 kilowatt-hours, 1,000 kilowatt-hours, and 2,000 kilowatt-hours. The amount of your bill will vary based on how much electricity you use each month.

What is a variable-rate plan? With a variable-rate plan, the base rate for your electricity can change. Often, with a variable-rate plan, the rate can change as frequently as every month. A variable-rate plan may make it a little harder to predict what your monthly electricity bill will be.

What happens if I move? If you move during the contract period, you must let your provider know at least 30 days before you want to stop service. You must also provide the company with your forwarding address. If you follow the procedure described in the Terms of Service document, you won’t have to pay a termination fee.

A few things to remember

Be sure to read the Electricity Facts Label before you sign up for an electricity plan. This document provides important information, such as:

  • The price you’ll pay per kilowatt-hour for the electricity you use
  • What percent of the energy comes from renewable sources
  • The fee for terminating your contract early

Your supplier setup is easy and hassle free. Once you order the electricity service from a new supplier, they’ll take care of setting up service with your utility. Don’t worry, there shouldn’t be any interruption in your power while the switch is made.

Understand your electricity bill. You’ll still get your electricity bill from your local utility, which will continue to deliver your electricity. The utility also maintains the power lines, meters, and other electric infrastructure. You’ll find the utility fees listed on your monthly bill as delivery or transmission charges. You pay those charges along with electricity charges based on the supplier rate.
